January Skies Bracelet Inspiration: My favorite month in Alaska is January.  Why January?  January is the most beautiful month to me for several reasons.  First, we will begin seeing direct sunlight at our house again the end of the month!  Yay!  We have daylight, but the sun doesn’t rise above the ridges of the Chugach Mountains from the week of Thanksgiving until the final week of January, or weather dependent, the first week of February.  It only starts out as a minute, but it grows, and it’s the most wonderful thing.   If you want to know how we celebrate the first few days of seeing the sun for a minute or two, we run out to the front porch and stand there soaking it all up!  Second, the weather is my favorite.  We have a good bit of clear skies, so we get to see the blue, very blue, skies.  The snow is white, fluffy, and everywhere.  The fir trees and the granite mountains are so very dark, dripping in snow.  I look forward to January all year long.

Our Interpretation: I used White Howlite to represent the white fluffy snow, Blue Apatite to represent the gorgeous January skies, and the silver bead and silver spacers represent the ice crystals in the air and the ice crystals across the snow looking like diamonds.
